How much caffeine is in energy drinks?

Energy drinks are where people most often blow past a safe caffeine limit without noticing, because the number on the can ranges from modest to enormous.

Caffeine by the can

  • Red Bull (8.4 oz): about 80 mg
  • Monster (16 oz): about 160 mg. White Monster: about 160 mg
  • Celsius (12 oz): about 200 mg
  • Alani Nu (12 oz): about 200 mg
  • Bang (16 oz): about 300 mg. Reign (16 oz): about 300 mg
  • 5-Hour Energy (1.9 oz shot): about 200 mg
One can can be anywhere from 80 to 300 mg.

Why it's easy to overdo

A single Celsius or Alani is already half the 400 mg daily limit for adults. Drink two of them, plus a morning coffee, and you're over, often without feeling like you drank that much. The large serving size hides the dose.

Caffy has these energy drinks built in with up-to-date caffeine amounts, so one tap logs the real number and warns you before two cans push you past your daily limit.

Take control of your caffeine.

Better energy by day. Deeper sleep by night. It starts with knowing your number.
